Ratings Breakdown

Action: 3

There are some of the plots involved that may result in combat. Combat will never be the only resolution but sometimes the most obvious. The dilemmas and choices should come into play here.

Character Development: 4

There will be a theme of choices and the lesser of 2 evils throughout. Which is the least is entirely dependant on the view points of the individual characters.

Darkness: 4

Although characters may die the theme explored more thoroughly here is corruption. There will be opportunities of significant gains but at significant cost to those things he character may hold dear.

Drama: 4

There will be high stakes in play that will lead to drama and grand story. The political structure in Cambridge has a degree of ceremony although delivered in a different way that most traditionalists would expect.

Intrigue: 4

The political scene in Cambridge is quite dynamic and moves to gain support and allies may come into play. The celebration is celebrating the fall of, what some call, a tyrant and others would call a strong Invictus prince.

Manners: 5

Social Etiquette and Peer Pressure. The peer pressure in Cambridge is very strong. The laws are solid and Carthian but you are judged by your actions. Those within will be watching those without and those without look at those within with admiration or scorn. Will this be celebrated as a Carthian victory or will the Invictus collect another example to justify their claim that the Carthian model does not work.

Mystery: 3

There are mysteries to be solved for those that look for them. The political and social arena will be the core of the event.

Pace: 3

The event will not be against the clock although for a few timing and swift action will be essential.

OOC Specification

Theme

Choosing between the lesser of 2 evils, grey areas of morality and the ridged nature of freedom.

Mood

A gentle reasonable surface with hideous actions and secrets beneath. The vile and disgusting will only be found if you look too closely. A comfortable and pleasant surround which is not resilient to scrutiny.

Setting

Note: this is an IC description of a real-world location. Although fundamentally similar, the real-world and game-world versions of Buckden Palace differ slightly. In particular, the real-world Buckden Palace is closer to the village of Buckden than its World of Darkness equivalent.

Buckden Palace, also called Buckden Towers or Buckden Abbey, is a former residence of the Bishop of Lincoln located near the village of Buckden in Cambridgeshire. The original foundation dates at least to the end of the twelfth century, but this building was destroyed by fire in 1291. The existing complex is primarily fifteenth and sixteenth century in date, although there are many later renovations and additions, especially to the living quarters. Much of the site was demolished in the nineteenth century. The standing buildings include the great tower, which contains a banqueting hall and accomodation, the gatehouse, the main house, which is a modern structure, and a chapel. A church dedicated to St Hugh of Lincoln stands to the south of the site. A small formal garden, a cemetery, and a larger landscape garden complete the grounds, which are bounded by remnants of the original curtain wall as well as by trees, hedges, and vestiges of the medieval moat.

Storytelling Mechanics

You must be able to present a character sheet on request!

You must be able to produce the system and approval code for non standard items. This includes ALL custom prefixed items. All items outside of the core rulebook that requires an approval.

Pre Game

Ok here goes..

Blood pool. Draw + relevant merits however there will be no actual draw you will be assumed to have drawn a six. Those merits are Herd, Haven Location and Damnation city stuff. BP 7+ should have VST details to be checked or signed off including PC food names, otherwise draw (a six) and only get merit points that can represent the Damned.

Ordo Dracul wanting to use Coil of blood for the full or half option need to see a ritual ST full on an even draw half on an odd draw.

Characters casting rituals need to see a rituals ST and must write on their sheet the ritual cost and successes obtained. Item cards will be required for sacrifices. Please get these from your VST before the game. Props in the IC venue may be used if appropriate and accurate phys rep may be used in lieu of an item card if there is no system attached e.g. a box of matches to build a fire.

You need signed of item cards for anything with a system attached, a stake, a gun a non mundane vehicle.

James bond type equipment is a big 'no'; I guess Q screwed up this time.

Proxy guidelines

Due to the nature of the event and the ST intensive nature of the game I will not be accepting proxies to the event itself. If you wish to proxy a character to follow up the after effects then a full hard proxy must submitted to me by midnight 28th September 2008 and acknowledged and accepted, by me, in writing.

Downtime Scenes

I will be making myself available to run scenes speak to me after the game if you want to rush off and do something IC so that we can organize a time to sit down and work through it, or even find a quiet corner and play through it. Actions likely to influence Domains with a VST will be viewed on a case by case basis, ideally that storyteller will need to be present. However time freezes will be avoided.
