DisclaimerThis is version 1 of this VSS and as such there are details especially on the premise and Theme and Mood that are not for release at this time due to ongoing plot being run in the months before the game itself. Therefore please bear with me and my assistant - Ben Bleach until such details become released in play. PremiseThe IC premise for the game will be released nearer the time. There are elements of the plot already in play and they will lead into the event in an organic manner that means the IC premise will not be released too far in advance. I can tell you that this will be more of an investigative and horror themed game than social however.
Ratings BreakdownDisclaimerI will never put a 1 in a rating as I find it impossible to draw a line under something and say that it will simply not occur ever in an event. Players are unpredictable, as we all know, and so the level 2 rating is mixture of being vaguely present and a situation being unexpected to arise and not particularly intended by the ST Team. Action: 3There is the distinct possibility that some form of action scene will occur during the course of the game, it may even not be started by a player. Whilst I am a fan of mediation and storytelling over card draws there will be times when challenges have to be made. Character Development: 4There will be many opportunities for character development alongside the main story. Tough choices may have to be made and those choices will have consequences for who the Player Characters are when they emerge out the other side. Darkness: 3PC Death is a distinct possibility in this game. Corruption, meanwhile, is one of the larger themes running in various national storylines in Mortals this year and so has already been seeded into the Venue and will be present at the game. There is also every likeness that some Characters may be 'corrupt' by other character's sense of ethics. That's entirely IC and should be expected in the World of Darkness. Drama: 4The premise is less formal and social based than the National. There will be high stakes in play that will lead to drama and grand story. What can I say? You're all very good at knowing to expect the unexpected by now. Intrigue: 4here will be personal mysteries to be solved as well as all the usual personal intrigue, one-upmanship and other power plays that are rife in the player base. Who do you trust and who do you believe? Manners: 4Social Etiquette and Peer Pressure? The decorum of a society entirely depends on what company you keep. The crux of the 4 is Peer Pressure. In a setting where there is no rigid social structure they are formed, built and shattered in play by the characters, so peer pressure is indeed, hugely present and quite often whether they like to admit it or not, at the back of the minds of those who find themselves clinging to the 'community' that they've found themselves in the midst of. Mystery: 5This is the 'core' element of this event. There will be a central Mystery to solve and it will need to be solved by hook or by crook before time out so bring your thinking caps boys and girls. As well as the central mysteries that will become apparent at the event itself, mystery is a key part of many of the local/national storylines in play and these may well come to light during play. Pace: 4The event will be to some extent against the clock in that we have limited time for the main game and as such things will move along at pace to accommodate what we want from the game to occur. Things may not be subtle and slow burn but they will be interesting. OOC SpecificationTo some extent the game at the Southern Regional will be another experiment in just how far we can push the envelope of a Camarilla Mortal's Game. As such things may happen that you don't normally see in other games. The aim is to make the game as immersive as possible and as close to a real time scenario as possible. As such it needs you the players to buy into the premise and setting from the moment you walk in the door. I know my not telling you the premise early doesn't make it easy for you to decide if your character would attend the event but I hope you'll work with me on that front. The premise will become clearer in the week leading up to the event and hopefully by then your PC will have a reason to attend out of events over the months leading up. But if not then I will try to give you one if you talk to me. Failing that there will be some NPC slots available if you really can't work your character into the game, because you know you won't want to miss it. I hope that we will be producing a game that will excite you and provide an experience that you'll want to share with other people that didn't make it. It will again be a showcase and having had the bar set so high by my predecessor I'm sure you'll appreciate how much it is going to take from me to build on that. I know you're all great and committed to the venue and your characters and as such I know you'll all relish the challenges this game will place before your characters. I also know I don't really need to say that I'd like you to stay IC from the moment you enter the game area and not to break into OOC chatting, commentary etc because I don't see that at the games anyway but it's in as a request anyway just for the record. Still should you have any queries do not hesitate to contact me at anst@mortal.camarilla.org.uk ThemeTo be released later MoodTo be released later SettingTo be released later Storytelling MechanicsPre-GameI wont lie, you're a troublesome lot. So, if you have anything that your PC would want to do Pre-game, whether it's dubiously occult, terribly mundane (for example: scouting out the area the meeting's in, bugging rooms, setting up a viable escape route, having your mates waiting around the corner with a bunch of housebricks in socks etc) you will need to tell me before midnight 30th September or it simply doesn't happen. So, give it a think and drop me a line at anst@mortal.camarilla.org.uk Those folk who believe they may do certain inevitable things during game play (whether that is again, terribly occult of you or not) and wish to have the drawers than can be sorted before the game, sorted before the game - let me know and we'll get them right out the way so. Streamlining the game for everyone. Proxy guidelinesDue to the nature of the event and the ST intensive nature of the game I will not be accepting proxies to the event itself. If you wish to proxy a character to follow up the after effects then a full hard proxy must submitted to me by midnight 30th September 2008 Downtime ScenesI will be making myself available to run scenes whilst we're all gathered together at the convention (as it's awfully handy) so speak to me after the game if you want to rush off and do something IC so that we can organize a time to sit down and work through it, or even find a quiet corner and play through it.
